Pelvic exam : An exam of the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and rectum. A speculum is inserted into the vagina and the doctor or nurse looks at the vagina and cervix for signs of disease. A Pap test of the cervix is usually done. The doctor or nurse also inserts one or two lubricated, gloved fingers of one hand into the vagina and places the other hand over the lower abdomen to feel the size, shape, and position of the uterus and ovaries. The doctor or nurse also inserts a lubricated, gloved finger into the rectum to feel for lumps or abnormal areas.

During pregnancy especially, it is important that if you are receiving oral sex that your partner does not blow into the vaginal opening and cause any air to be trapped inside the vagina. This is because this bubble of air can travel and enter the placenta, which can cause problems with fetal development. Additionally, the pressure differential caused by air being trapped in the vagina can cause blood vessels to rupture, causing spotting or bleeding.
In addition to HIV, a person can get other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like chlamydia and gonorrhea from anal sex without condoms. Even if a condom is used, some STDs can still be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact (like syphilis or herpes). One can also get hepatitis A, B, and C; parasites like Giardia and intestinal amoebas; and bacteria like Shigella, Salmonella, Campylobacter, and E. coli from anal sex without a condom because they’re transmitted through feces. Getting tested and treated for STDs reduces a person’s chances of getting or transmitting HIV through anal sex. If one has never had hepatitis A or B, there are vaccines to prevent them. A health care provider can make recommendations about vaccines.
A male citizen taking the passive (or receptive) role in anal intercourse (paedicatio in Latin) was condemned in Rome as an act of impudicitia (immodesty or unchastity); free men, however, frequently took the active role with a young male slave, known as a catamite or puer delicatus. The latter was allowed because anal intercourse was considered equivalent to vaginal intercourse in this way; men were said to "take it like a woman" (muliebria pati, "to undergo womanly things") when they were anally penetrated, but when a man performed anal sex on a woman, she was thought of as playing the boy's role.[115] Likewise, women were believed to only be capable of anal sex or other sex acts with women if they possessed an exceptionally large clitoris or a dildo.[115] The passive partner in any of these cases was always considered a woman or a boy because being the one who penetrates was characterized as the only appropriate way for an adult male citizen to engage in sexual activity, and he was therefore considered unmanly if he was the one who was penetrated; slaves could be considered "non-citizen".[115] Although Roman men often availed themselves of their own slaves or others for anal intercourse, Roman comedies and plays presented Greek settings and characters for explicit acts of anal intercourse, and this may be indicative that the Romans thought of anal sex as something specifically "Greek".[116]
It’s a cardinal rule of sex to never go from anal to vaginal penetration without changing the condom (even if the penetration is with a sex toy). This is because introducing fecal matter into a woman’s vagina – even if it’s her own fecal matter – places her at significant risk for developing a urinary tract infection. Women are at higher risk of getting these infections than men because a woman’s “plumbing” is such that her urethra is quite short, making it very easy for bacteria to climb up the urethra and set up camp in the bladder. In some cases, a bad urinary tract infection can even travel from the bladder to the kidneys, which is very serious.
Partaking in any form of sex – be it oral, anal, or vaginal, can put one at risk of contracting a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Anal sex, however, carries the highest risk of transmission. This is because the tissue in the anus is quite fragile and thus incurs small, microscopic tears during the act of anal sex. These tears expose trace amounts of blood, making it much more likely for HIV and/or Hepatitis B or C to be transmitted. The risk of contracting these STIs is greater for the recipient (aka the “bottom”), but the “top” is also at risk. This is still true when lots of lubrication is used.
17. It feels best when there's some additional stimulation going on. Vaginal, clitoral, nipple-centric—whichever feels best for you. While some women only need butt play à la carte, most women can't come from anal stimulation alone. "The anal part is something that's an accent. It adds to the overall experience," says Ian Kerner, sex expert, researcher, and author of She Comes First: The Thinking Man's Guide to Pleasuring a Woman. (Incidentally, women who have had anal sex report more frequent orgasms than those who haven't.) That being said...
b : of, relating to, or characterized by personality traits (as orderliness, frugality, and obstinacy) considered typical of fixation at the anal stage of development : anal-retentive —often used in nontechnical contexts to describe someone as extremely or excessively neat, careful, or precise — compare genital sense 3, oral sense 3, phallic sense 2
"I was always afraid it would hurt, but anal sex actually isn’t so much painful as it is uncomfortable. But! The discomfort is so extreme for some people that they can barely do it—like my best friend, who’s tried a few times with her fiancé and barely gotten it in, no matter how much lube they use. The key, apparently, is to be relaxed, which you really aren’t gonna be—in fact, knowing it’s about to happen will make you tense up more than usual—unless you happen to love it.

Oral sex is generally only deemed “likely safe” during pregnancy if you are in a mutually monogamous relationship in which both of you have tested negative for STDs. For those who choose a new sexual partner or have multiple sexual partners during pregnancy, there is the risk of contracting STDs, of which many can negatively affect a pregnancy and the developing fetus.

11. The person doing it should err on the shallow side. Everything that goes in should be "just the tip." The nerve endings you're trying to stimulate are in the anus—hence, the moniker "rimming"—and not all the way up there, which is generally the painful part and also the part that makes you feel like you need to take a huge dump. Imagine it like a basketball hoop, and the ball should just be rolling around the rim of the basket, not actually making the basket. Does that help? I know nothing about basketball.

4. With that said, here is something she will LOVE!!! Note: this technique requires the ability to continue trusting through her orgasms without cumming yourself, but it can cause her orgasm to be longer, or even trigger her to have her first “back to back” multiple orgasms if she doesn’t already!!! Before trying this, you must know your partner, know she is ok with anal, and that it is relatively comfortable for her because it works best when she has NO IDEA it’s coming. HERE WE GO… Have sex in a position that allows you easy access to the area and the ability to grab your penis. I prefer her on her side with me straddling her lover leg. (btw, this position can give maximum penetration, so if she likes it then slam it hard, BUT if you are longer than she is, be careful because you can cause her severe pain. Even if you have never hurt her from penetration depth before, sometimes you will with this position.) Get her worked up by getting her close and backing off a couple times until she is ready to explode!!! Then as she begins to orgasm continue to fully thrust until she is well into her orgasm, then (preferably before she comes down from her current orgasm) as quickly as possible pull out of her, line it up and gently but quickly (again, know your partner) slide your penis inside her rectum and begin thrusting in whatever way she likes. I have NEVER have a complaint from this as it tends to hold that orgasm longer while throwing her into another, often stronger orgasm. Even if it takes a few seconds and the orgasm subsides, she will likely orgasm again very quickly. With this technique, I have been told many times that this caused the anal orgasm to be significantly more intense than the vaginal ones preceding it .

27.“From a straight guy’s perspective: Like a lot of the previous comments, there’s an element of the taboo involved in it. Anal isn’t quite as accepted in ‘mainstream’ sexual discussions yet, and as such remains a bit out of reach for many curious individuals. Having already done anal on occasion with my girlfriend, the taboo is still there but has been transferred from a ‘mysterious and unknown’ sort of taboo to a ‘so rare as to be mystical’ taboo. On the pleasure side of things, it provides a nice change in sensation from vaginal, oral, and manual stimulation. And while it may not provide as much physical pleasure, its infrequency offsets that since it’s not something you’re typically used to like one of the above three. Also, the intimacy factor can’t be overstated. Because it’s such a rare occurrence for most guys (myself included), it carries a lot of weight when your girlfriend/wife/FWB/etc. gives you the opportunity. It requires more trust and communication than regular sex, and oftentimes your SO is sacrificing some of their comfort (and possibly dignity) to give you pleasure. It’s honestly both thrilling and humbling.”

There are two ways that we talk about anal intercourse:  receptive anal intercourse and insertive anal intercourse. “Receptive” refers to the person that is receiving penetration, and “insertive” refers to the person (male) who is providing penetration to the anus. There is also heterosexual versus homosexual anal intercourse; here, since we are concerned with pregnancy, we will mainly focus on heterosexual anal intercourse (man with a woman).

If you decide to have penetrative anal sex, take things slowly and communicate with your partner. If you are giving anal sex, use plenty of lubricant and then start by penetrating just a little and then pulling out completely. When your partner is ready, penetrate a bit further and then pull out again. Continue with this until you are fully in – but be prepared to stop at any time if the other person is uncomfortable or in pain.
Of course, it is possible that you might encounter a little poop, especially if the receiving partner hasn't had a bowel movement recently (and so, fecal matter may have moved lower in your colon) or if there's residue from a previous bowel movement. Maybe a little poop isn't a big deal to you or your partner — that's great! But if it is, you can take steps to make sure there's no fecal residue left before you get started. "Most people don't regularly have much residue in their rectum, but when they do, the issue can be rectified (pun intended) by anal douching or washing prior to anal sex," Pitagora says.
Anastasia Rose : I always recommend starting with toys. There is a five-step silicone butt plug kit I highly recommend. It’s on Amazon! But also, vibrating anal toys! Try them, I promise you’ll be an anal slut in no time. I also recommend maybe starting with one finger, then two, then maybe three. The key to all of this is just to relax. Breathe steadily. Trust yourself. And if it hurts, stop.
14. “Part of it is the taboo aspect. It is more intimate in a way because we are letting down all our borders regarding what is ‘normal.’ It’s our dirty little secret. Everyone assumes we have sex, but most people wouldn’t assume she lets me cum in her ass. I think another thing is a certain level of trust that must be present, and that she trusts me to not just drive it home at the starting gun. The bit of pain she may experience in the beginning might seem reminiscent of a woman’s ‘first time,’ and my carnal desire to have my way with her overtaking my normal instinct to not hurt her. The feeling that she is giving up some of her humility for my pleasure, and that I am doing to her as I please. That is the attraction in real life. In porn, however, the attraction to anal is different for me. I’m more into the mindset of how it is not the norm, how I bet it feels good from the side of the penis-bearer, and what a nasty little slut she is. I’m attracted to the idea that she wouldn’t object.”
I’ve had a lot of anal sex before with women who were already experienced and I tried it with my current girlfriend for the first time. She was a bit drunk and on her period and was having a hard time giving me a blow job so she told me to do her wherever I wanted. I asked where she wanted and suggested tits or ass, she said she was down for ass if I wanted it. I told her what I wanted (ass) because it feels so good so she asked where the lube was and I got it.

Men who have sex with men may also prefer to engage in frot or other forms of mutual masturbation because they find it more pleasurable or more affectionate, to preserve technical virginity, or as safe sex alternatives to anal sex,[53][55][61] while other frot advocates denounce anal sex as degrading to the receptive partner and unnecessarily risky.[58][62]
The most common formulation of Buddhist ethics is the Five Precepts. These precepts take the form of voluntary, personal undertakings, not divine mandate or instruction. The third of the Precepts is "To refrain from committing sexual misconduct".[136] However, "sexual misconduct" (Sanskrit: Kāmesu micchācāra, literally "sense gratifications arising from the 5 senses") is subject to interpretation relative to the social norms of the followers.[137] Buddhism, in its fundamental form, does not define what is right and what is wrong in absolute terms for lay followers. Therefore, the interpretation of what kinds of sexual activity are acceptable for a layman is not a religious matter as far as Buddhism is concerned.[138]

As with other sexual practices, people without sound knowledge about the sexual risks involved are susceptible to STIs. Because of the view that anal sex is not "real sex" and therefore does not result in virginity loss, or pregnancy, teenagers and other young people may consider vaginal intercourse riskier than anal intercourse and believe that a STI can only result from vaginal intercourse.[79][80][81] It may be because of these views that condom use with anal sex is often reported to be low and inconsistent across all groups in various countries.[79]

In a 2010 clinical review article of heterosexual anal sex, anal intercourse is used to specifically denote penile-anal penetration, and anal sex is used to denote any form of anal sexual activity. The review suggests that anal sex is exotic among the sexual practices of some heterosexuals and that "for a certain number of heterosexuals, anal intercourse is pleasurable, exciting, and perhaps considered more intimate than vaginal sex".[6]
The Mishneh Torah, a text considered authoritative by Orthodox Jewish sects,[128] states "since a man's wife is permitted to him, he may act with her in any manner whatsoever. He may have intercourse with her whenever he so desires and kiss any organ of her body he wishes, and he may have intercourse with her naturally or unnaturally [traditionally, unnaturally refers to anal and oral sex], provided that he does not expend semen to no purpose. Nevertheless, it is an attribute of piety that a man should not act in this matter with levity and that he should sanctify himself at the time of intercourse."[129]

4. Get a water-based lube. Sexologist Jill McDevitt says to secure a quality water-based lube ahead of time. This will make rubbing and massaging even better. Even if your foreplay doesn’t involve penetration for now, lube makes everything better and can increase sensitivity. A great option is Lelo’s water-based lube—it’s slippery enough that it won’t gunk up on you, and it looks chic AF.
The distance between a woman’s anus and vaginal opening is very short, about an inch and a half. After the male ejaculates into his partner’s anus, his semen can easily drip out, travel across this very short space (known as the perineum), and enter his partner’s vagina. This trace amount of semen is all it takes to get some women pregnant. (Yes, really!)

9. This is a case where shower or bathtub sex might actually be good. Usually, shower sex is bad and very hard to successfully pull off. But because relaxation is so key here, trying anal play in a place where you're more likely to feel calm and loose is helpful. Plus, if you're worried about cleanliness (which isn't a real problem, but it's an understandable concern), moving things to a place where you're already getting clean helps out.
The human papillomavirus (HPV)  is a sexually transmitted disease that causes anal warts. They grow inside and around your anus and may spread to your genitals. Itching is a common symptom. If you think you have anal warts, see your doctor. Without treatment, they can grow large and more may show up. Untreated warts can make you more likely to get anal cancer, too.
Your man also needs to be someone who will actually follow your instructions too. If he thinks he is going to be in control and calling the shots, then you are going to have to bring him down to earth and let him know that this won’t be the case. Doing this isn’t so that you can “dominate” your man, it’s so that you get to experience the pleasures of anal sex AND NOT THE PAIN.
In addition to nerve endings, pleasure from anal intercourse may be aided by the close proximity between the anus and the prostate for males, and vagina, clitoral legs and anal area for females. This is because of indirect stimulation of the prostate and vagina or clitoral legs.[7][8][9] For a male insertive partner, the tightness of the anus can be a source of pleasure via the tactile pressure on the penis.[10][11] Pleasure from the anus can also be achieved through anal masturbation, fingering,[3] facesitting, anilingus, and other penetrative and non-penetrative acts. Anal stretching or fisting is pleasurable for some, but it poses a more serious threat of damage due to the deliberate stretching of the anal and rectal tissues; its injuries include anal sphincter lacerations and rectal and sigmoid colon (rectosigmoid) perforation, which might result in death.[12] Lubricant and condoms are widely regarded as a necessity while performing anal sex as well as a slow and cautious penetration.[13]
But you can't just slide into anal sex (unless you're using plenty of lube...but more on that later). If you don't know what you're doing and you aren't careful, you could hurt yourself or your partner because the anus is sensitive. "Contrary to what many believe, anal sex does not have to be painful (unless people engaging in it want it to be)," says Dulcinea Pitagora, a sex therapist known as the Kink Doctor. So before you give anal a try, read our tips about how to prep, both physically and mentally.
13. You can lie flat on your stomach, get in doggy-style, or do missionary—and that is the order of what will hurt the least to the most. At least, in my (minimal) experience. You can tear your anus if you use a certain position that allows for more penetration before you're ready, and Taormino points out that the missionary position allows for the least clitoral stimulation and suggests receiver-on-top for beginners. "Insertive partners who are inexperienced, nervous about how to penetrate their partners anally, or fearful of hurting their partners may find this position most relaxing because the receiver can do much of the decision-making and work."
